Wow. This might be the most expensive restomod to go off at Mecum Chicago this year. The Riviera has great lines we all know, and this restoration hasn’t done anything but accentuate them. Jaw-dropping.

Legendary General Motors styling chief Bill Mitchell counted among his most successful designs the 1963-65 Buick Riviera, which departed from its contemporary competition much as Mitchell’s Sting Ray design did for the 1963 Corvette. Created to compete directly against the Ford Thunderbird, the Riviera had bold, literally cutting-edge styling inspired by Mitchell’s admiration for such diverse marques as Rolls-Royce and Ferrari. This sharply executed Restomodded Riviera is largely stock in appearance and offers factory air conditioning, but it also has a number of custom features that set it apart from the original. Its custom front and rear end treatments and large-diameter Foose custom wheels are attractive additions; closer inspection reveals a custom two-tone brown and Black interior with carbon fiber inlays, Ride Tech Air Ride suspension, powder coated undercarriage and a 425 CI fuel-injected version of Buick’s famous Nailhead V-8 engine.
