16 Restomods Headlining Mecum Chicago 2014
1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS
SOLD $49,000
The Camaro has been restomodded time and time again, and (hopefully!) it will continue to be so. Although it’s been done before, it’s never been done before quite like this. Known as “the Legend,” this outstanding 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS Resto Mod is the fruit of a professional nut-and-bolt build by All American Muscle Cars.

Influenced by the classic Nickey Camaros of the late 1960s, its Nickey-style hood hiders the much-heralded L71 427 CI Tri-Power big block V-8, in this case tuned to 525 horsepower and teamed with a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed transmission and 4.10 Positraction rear end. Maximizing the 427’s potential are heavy-duty cooling, Flotech headers and Magnaflow exhaust. The car is underpinned with a Martz Engineering front sub-frame and suspension, which incorporates tubular front control arms with urethane bushings and power rack and pinion steering. Caltrac rear suspension, 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes and performance rubber on 17-inch American Torque Thrust wheels complete the undercarriage.

The car’s Marina Blue paint is sourced from the factory palette, maintaining the period theme of this build. The theme repeats in the restored Black interior with bolstered factory-style bucket seats. Insulated with Dynamat lining, it also offers sharp Dakota Digital gauges and Vintage Air. This very quick and good-looking Camaro Restomod’s creation is documented with a journal of the build and photographs.
