This 1971 BMW 2800 CS Restomod Is A Lowriding Valkyrie

What do you think of when you hear the name BMW? Do you instantly visualize an M3, the closest German cars get to a Pony Car? How about the classic M1 supercar? One you might not think of, unless you’re a huge fan of the marque, is the 2800 CS. That’s something of a shame: the 2800 is a coupe with gorgeous looks that are classically German, reminding me somewhat of the Mercedes-Benz 300SL.

This 1971 2800 restomod, listed for sale by Georgia-based Gas Motorcars, with an asking price of $49,995, has taken the classic and updated it beautifully. The dealer is somewhat reticent when it comes to full details, but we do know a fair bit. One, the car has a 2.8 liter six-cylinder engine, which could be the original twin-carb. This has been hooked up to a five-speed manual, pretty standard European fare. The lack of an engine swap shouldn’t put off potential buyers, though — it’s had a whole bunch of mechanical work carried out. The original engine was pretty quick off the mark too, and should still have some punch.

From the exterior, you can also spot new HRE wheels, a fresh lick of spotless silver paint, and a lowered body courtesy of new air suspension. The interior has also been dramatically redone: there is a brand new audio system, new instrument cluster with Autometer gauges, and a set of alloy pedals. Models like this have previously gone for high prices, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone snap this up, despite the $50,000 pricetag.
