The Ford F-100 Meets Mercedes-Benz In This Gorgeous Truck

The Ford F-100 is a restomod classic. There’s a good reason for that: it’s got the looks and the nostalgia required for an instantly recognisable, evocative restomod. Normally, when we look at trucks, they’ve been fitted with brand new, massive crate engines, but this F-100 does things a little differently. It’s for sale in Germany, and they’re immensely proud of their cars over there. Instead of rocking a new American motor, it features the 3.2 liter V6 from a Merc SLK 320. The horsepower isn’t mad, as you might expect, in fact, it sits at just 218 horsepower. Still, that’s 118 more than the original engine produced, and it more than makes up for this just about everywhere else.

Hooked up to the engine is a 5G-Tronic automatic transmission, with the SLK also supplying the axles, brakes, power steering, and exhaust. Sitting on top of all this, you’ll find a meticulously restored body. The subject of a frame-off restoration, it looks as though it could have just rolled off the production line. Then you notice the little touches here and there that make it that much more enticing to a modern driver. The headlights use HID bulbs in projector casings, giving absolutely stellar night visibility. Up front, the bumper has been recessed, while in the back, a new wood bed has been installed, complete with a locking cover. The intricacy of the project is summed up by the wheels. Despite looking vintage, they’re brand new 18-inch customs, designed to clear the SLK brake assembly while maintaining the original aesthetic.
