1968 Chevrolet C 10 Pickup Truck – Mecum Auction

October 22, 2014

The Ford and Chevy pickup trucks from the late ‘60s through early ‘70s have been getting more popular with gear heads every day. I get it; I too, own a ’67 pickup that is in the process of being worked. Most of the guys who opt for this type of resto mod are the ones who need the best of two opposing worlds.

These guys need a hot rod and a pickup truck just in case they need to haul something. That’s my take on it, too. It’s a bit more budget friendly this way. Plus, if your truck is set up properly, you can haul stuff around in it as well.

In 1967, Chevrolet completely redesigned their entire pickup line. They lost the bubble shaped hood and got a much sleeker, more refined look that today’s enthusiasts love. These trucks only saw minor changes until 1973.

However, the truck in question is a gorgeous 1968 short bed Chevy with enough work to make you look twice. Your second glance gives confirmation that this is, in fact, a pickup truck. The slammed stance of this award winning vehicle is what makes it so captivating.

The current owner of this ride spared no expense. The air ride suspension allows you to be versatile so you could drop it low enough for grandma to get in. Or, if you prefer, you could fill the bags with some extra air and throw some heavy stuff in the bed. It really is up to you.

The combination of the 350 cubic inch engine, 4 barrel carb and headers should provide enough power to get you, and whatever you’re carrying, from A to B. And the automatic transmission, upgraded Wilwood brakes and power steering will prove that trucks like this are easy to drive.

Externally, this beauty is tastefully done without going over the top with gaudy elements that don’t fit. Rather, certain body parts have been shaved off completely. Did you find it yet? The rear bumper has been removed, and the front turn signals have been replaced with an LED unit. Meanwhile, there is just enough chrome to make you realize that this is a ‘60s era pickup truck.

She is gorgeous. In fact, she has won many awards, to include: NSRA 2011 Pick of the Show, multiple Good Guys awards and the Vendor Booth Pick at SEMA. What’s more, this ride has made an appearance in Custom Classic Trucks Magazine.

She’s going to be on the Mecum Auction block in Austin, TX on December 12-13. And, unless your name is Jay Leno, this is most likely the only way you’ll be able to own this classic Chevy truck.
