Shelby America Introduces 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe

Have you seen the new 50-car run of the 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe that was introduced at McCall’s Motorworks Revival last week and again at the Monterey Historic races on Saturday? If not, you missed something pretty awesome.

The new Daytona is sold as a rolling chassis, but execs say the company will install almost any motor you want, so take your pick! They come in a beautiful polished aluminum or fiberglass. The aluminum version will set you back $349,995; the fiberglass goes for $179,995. At these Donald Trump prices, dont expect to see many of these on the road next summer.

Besides the legendary form, the aluminum-bodied retro Daytona gets an old-school leaf spring suspension, a wooden steering wheel and leather seats. Some new tech is needed to slow the car. Wilwood provided the brakes. Different paint jobs, racing stripes and sound-deadening material are optional.

The fiberglass set-up is a just a bit more modern with its air conditioning, power steering, power windows and a coilover suspension. Both get signatures by Bob Bondurant and the Coupe’s designer Peter Brock.
