Custom ’64 Corvette Supercharged LS9

March 20, 2017

This Custom ’64 Corvette Supercharged LS9 is something you would have never dreamed about when the model first hit dealership floors in 1964. This second generation Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray had minimal changes from the previous year but noticeably, the two simulated air intakes that once lived up on the hood were scrapped even though their indentations remained leaving a unique mark on the 64’s appearance.

Corvette did leave the exhaust tubes, which were just decorative on the 63′, that were now functioning but only on the left side of the car.The Sting Rays long-duration camshaft cranked out 365 hp with its large four-barrel Holley carburetor which replaced the base engine’s Carter unit. For an extra fee of $540 bucks, you could add 15 extra horsepower by getting the fuel injected version.

This old model was tuned up and dialed in by the crew at Heartland Customs and had the interior tuned in by the pros over at Hix Design a few years ago. To say it’s nothing short of a dream is an understatement, but it didnt start out that way. The donor car was found on EBay and it was once submerged in a lake, or so the story goes because the entire frame was rusted out.

Besides the rust, it had no engine or transmission. “It was basically a body and an old beat-up chassis underneath it, which is exactly what we wanted, except for the rust,”according to Heartland Customs, Jeff Page.

In total, this amazing ’64 took 10 months and 4,000 ma-hours of shop labor to get the chassis, body and interior mods dialed in. Watch the video to see her in all her glory.
