Bringing New To The Olds: Look At This Awesome Olds 442 Restomod

I’m on something of an Oldsmobile kick recently, what with discussing the tragically forgotten Oldsmobile Ralleye 350 as part of my article on forgotten classics. This time, we’re going to talk about the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, and more specifically, the 1973 Cutlass 442 built by Jeff Schwartz of Schwartz Performance, a shop based in Woodstock, IL. The huge grilles, normally hidden by the car’s stock bumper, are proudly on display. To make the custom frontend, corner pieces have been made of fiberglass and driving lights from a Camaro implanted onto the pieces. The killer looks are then rounded off with a custom chin spoiler.

The car came to Jeff painted and restored, but the owner wasn’t a huge fan of how it drove. To compensate, a new chassis was fitted along with a supercharged LSA engine as found on the ZL1 Camaro. The interior’s mostly been left as stock, complete with the iconic swivel seats, but bespoke custom gauges have been installed.

The monstrous LSA engine outputs 750 horsepower, which is boosted by nitrous all the way up to 900 horsepower. Stay to the end of the video, trust me, you’ll want to hear this beast growl. It’s loud, it’s powerful, it’s delightfully unsubtle: everything you want a muscle car to be, and that’s why it needed to be featured this week.
