Put Every Corvette In A Blender and You Get the Equus Throwback
Corvettes have been around for so long, choosing one to buy can seem like a tough proposition. Do you go for the barebones, yet wonderful original, the sleek C2, the super-powerful C7, or any of the other myriad models? However, for the millionnaires with a burning hole in their wallet, there’s the Equus Throwback. Based on the Corvette C7, this 1000 horsepower monster combines the best parts of each into one ridiculous package.
Just take a look at the car’s exterior with me for a moment, and see how many callbacks to the classics you can spot. There’s the classic round tailights, the divider on the rear windshield that’s reminscient of the split window on the Stingray, and the scalloped sides that call to mind the C1. Then there’s some extra flourishes from Equus themselves, including a trio of obscenely huge tailpipes. Inside, there’s alcantara upholstery with diamond quilting and silver metal trim, though it looks relatively unchanged from stock.
The Throwback will be limited to just 25 models, and while it’s unlikely they’ll see much drag racing, I’d love to see the quarter mile time from one of these. As mentioned earlier, the car produces 1000 horsepower, thanks to some creative engine tuning. Which engine has been used as the base, and the modifications that have been made to it haven’t been publicly disclosed, but if it really is as rambunctious as promised, I don’t think anyone will care. Thanks to its light and modern frame, Equus say the Throwback will hit over 220 mph, with 60 reached in just 2.5 seconds. The base price has been set at $130,000.
