A Restomod For The Whole Family: 1951 Pontiac Wagon

Pontiac are an interesting brand: a crucially important one in the history of American motoring, but not as popular a pick for projects as the Fords and Chevies of the world. Occasionally however, a rarer project comes along that makes you stop and wonder why they’re not done more often. This 1951 Pontiac Wagon is one such project. A whole $33,000 went into this build, and the evidence of the splashed cash is easy to see.

The car’s original chassis has been swapped for one from the A-body 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix. The grille comes from a ’54 Buick, and the front bumper comes from a ’47 Plymouth. Inside, the interior is finished in a catching and simple leather and neoprene. Other upgrades to the interior include a new tachometer by Pro Comp, VDO gauges, power windows, a retractable video screen, tilting steering column, and a 10-inch subwoofer. The exterior is finished in Sunburst Orange with ghost flames on the front fenders and pinstriping.

Powering this wagon is a 1971 Pontiac 400 V8 with an Edelbrock carb and manifold. This is hooked up to a Turbo 400 auto, with gases heading out through a stainless steel exhaust by Ferrari Hot Rods. There’s also disc brakes, power steering, and a new alternator. Going for $29,500 with 42,500 miles on the clock, this isn’t a bad deal.
