Up For Grabs: Our Amazing Mustang Restomod

As we talked about just a few days ago, we’ve got a new restomod up for grabs in our sweepstakes. Last time, we offered up a vintage Chevy 150, and now we’ve got a classic Mustang for you to win. The car is a tribute to the GT350H rent-a-racers, which were popular on tracks around the country in the middle 60s. Finished in the famous black-and-gold paint scheme, this car draws glances from envious eyes everywhere it goes.

Our restomod utilizes a ’65 fastback as its base, but there are surprises aplenty lurking beneath. Most obviously, there’s been a major engine swap. The original engine has been replaced with a 5.0 bored-out Cobra. The drivetrain as a whole has come from a Foxbody, and features a good set of upgrades. The motor features GT40P heads, custom headers, a mild cam, and an MSD ignition system.

Work began on the body eight years ago, since then it’s seen a complete replacement of any panels that showed signs of oxidation or rust. That means new floor pans, new fuel tank, and new quarter panels. The trunk lid and hood are made of fiberglass, and the bumpers and exterior trim are brand new. There’s also a nice surprise waiting up top, with the Mustang boasting a sunroof, a feature as rare as hens’ teeth on fastbacks. The interior has also been given a lot of attention. It’s been reupholstered in black and gold to match the paintwork, and features a new carpet, electric instrument cluster and dash pad.

This car is a beautiful, quick, and modern tribute to a classic Mustang.
