1954 Ford Sunliner Convertible

1954 was a transitional year for Ford passenger cars. The faithful but outdated Flathead V8 engine was replaced by the all-new overhead valve Y-block, and power jumped from 110 to 130. The stage was set for Ford’s participation in the great horsepower race of the ’50s. This sleek 1954 was a transitional year for Ford passenger cars. The faithful but outdated Flathead V8 1954 Ford V8 Crestliner is one of only 13,144 Sunliner convertibles built in ’54. A full body-off-frame restoration was performed in 2003, bringing the car back to its as-built factory specifications. From the correctly rendered two tone off-white and red engine to the flawless Raven Black exterior paint, to the striking black and jade green interior and black fabric folding top, perfection abounds. Optional equipment includes the Ford-O-Matic transmission, factory AM radio and clock and heater/defroster unit. Of the 1,165,942 Ford passenger cars built in the 1954 model year, Sunliner convertibles account for roughly one in 89. Considering the elevated attrition rate of open-top cars, this pristine example represents a rare ownership opportunity.
