A Beautiful Restomod For An Excellent Cause

We all want beautiful cars, but what if you could walk away with both a superb car and the knowledge that you’d done some good? On Thursday, at the 47th annual Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona, attendees will have the chance to do just that. The car is this incredible 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Areo Coupe restomod. The cause is the TGEN Foundation, a non-profit which aims to improve revolutionary genetic medicine. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the foundation’s Barrett-Jackson Cancer Research Fund, set up by Barrett-Jackson CEO Craig Jackson, in memory of his father and brother, who both died of the disease.

The restomod comes as part of “Project Prestone,” a colloborative effort between Barrett-Jackson and antifreeze company Prestone. The Chevy is nothing short of beautiful. Coated in a superb black and yellow paint scheme, with matching interior, it’s halfway to looking like the Bandit Trans Am, but is utterly unique. Work has gone into just about every aspect of this car. A new 383 stroker engine with Edelbrock fuel injection has been installed, giving this Monte Carlo an output of 415 horsepower. Compare that to the factory output of just 185 horsepower. It’s a slight improvement.
The car’s automatic transmission has been rebuilt, and new Willwood brakes have been installed. A catalytic converter and a performance exhaust have also been installed as part of this top-to-bottom restomod. Inside, there’s a new stereo system and upholstery too. Other cars auctioned by Barrett-Jackson to benefit cancer research include a 1930 Model A and a BMW 2002. For more information on the Monte Carlo restomod, check out the video below!
