A Blue Oval Authentic 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Street Rod

November 26, 2014

So, I set out on a quest after my last post about that ’33 Ford 3 window coupe. My quest was to find a street rod on the Mecum site with an all Ford drivetrain. And boy was I ever surprised. Most of the old rods I saw had GM motors in them.

It makes sense to me, but I know I ruffled a few feathers with my last post, so I set out to fix it today. Struggle as I did, I finally found a restomod worthy of posting on our site. Feast your eyes upon this wannabe tail-dragger Lincoln Zephyr.

I say “wannabe” because technically speaking, the rear end isn’t quite low enough…

But, she is fine. And, she is really well done. In fact, I’m not sure I’d change anything.

You know I’m all about monster power but the stats for this chromed out 302 Ford motor are not posted. However, history shows us that these babies can deliver some serious power. It does seem, though, that this engine was an afterthought for this 1939 Lincoln Zephyr.

Instead of building the car around the engine, the builder seemed to have built the car, and then realized that in order to show her, an engine would also be needed. No matter; because there is a literal ton of work put into this street rod.

The paint is eccentric, over the top and absolutely gorgeous. Any time you look at a car from two different angles and see a different color each time keeps you on your toes, and causes you to look back again. Isn’t that what we all want our cars to do?

Personally, I love it when I drive my old pickup and get looks accompanied by thumbs up. Of course, my truck looks like a big turd on wheels. But the worked small block and straight pipes sound awesome…

Anyway, back to this fat bottomed girl. The curves on this voluptuous street rod are breathtaking, and seemingly endless as they wrap the entire car with their curvy beauty. The body has been a huge undertaking. It has been chopped and sectioned, with items such as the door handles completely removed. This is one smooth ride.

What’s more, she rolls on an air ride suspension for a custom stance, no matter what the driver’s mood is.

Inside, you’ll find an exquisite, sculpted interior. Much like the rest of the car, the interior is art in and of itself.

Finally, this babe is Blue Oval authentic. The engine, transmission, rear-end and everything in between are made by either Lincoln or Ford (or an aftermarket company). So hopefully, the Ford gurus forgive me.

This Zephyr was a work of art when it first rolled off the manufacturing line, and is much more than that now. Today, this is a coveted car in the rodding world and this beauty is a fine specimen. How much will it go for? Most likely, she will pull in a lot of money. The only way to be sure is to hit up the Mecum Kissimmee Auction this January.

What do you think? Would you change anything?
