This was our biggest sweepstakes yet, with the grand prize being an unbelievable numbers matching 1972 Chevelle SS 454. This car is a thing of beauty, having gone through a frame off rotisserie restoration. The original numbers matching 454 big block was tuned up a bit with some added compression. It has a bit of a celebrity pedigree, having been worked on by Cherie Lynn Westrich of Overhaulin’ fame:

The interior was also done by the same guys who work for Jay Leno’s Garage, so that was original looking but brand new – better than new! It also came with a state of the art booming stereo powered by the only thing that would be appropriate: an 8 track deck! As you can clearly tell, we loved this car dearly. The deadline to enter the Chevelle SS Sweepstakes was January 15 2019. After that we sent all the entries to our sweepstakes company and they pulled the winner’s name on January 23rd. We had to call his phone three times before he’d answer, but finally we got ahold of our lucky winner, Tobin Felter of Marshfield MA:

Tobin needed some time to think about it, but a few days later we called him to get his choice between the ’72 Chevelle SS or $35,000 in cash:

Just a couple short days later, Tobin had the $35,000 and is a happy camper:

We always want people to take the cars over the cash, so much so that we are considering changing the prize structure so it’s the car and a bit of cash to help with the taxes. That would eliminate the choice and we would always get to give away the cars which is what we really want to do. Let us know in the comments what you guys think.

This sweepstakes actually had a double happy ending, because after we announced Tobin as the winner and his choice to take the cash one of our other VIP members reached out about the Chevelle. Turns out David Kennedy had fallen in love with the black beauty and couldn’t live without her, so he contacted us to buy the car and was soon sitting in the driver’s seat:
