Fat bottomed ’46 Caddy set to be donated to Make a Wish Foundation.
I hate to see sick kids. Being a father of three beautiful little kids ages 2, 4 and 6 – I can’t imagine having any of them get so sick that they would need to take advantage of this charity.
But, knowing that it is there to help children and their families should they need it is more than enough for me. I stand behind them because they help these little kiddos realize a dream before something truly devastating happens.
This 1946 Cadillac is set to be auctioned off this April at Mecum Houston. The proceeds from the sale of this exquisite fat bottomed girl will help sick kids make their wildest dreams become a reality.
Well, now that we’ve gotten the formalities out of the way, what’s so special about this car?

Are we even looking at the same car?
I mean, this baby is brand new from one bumper to the next, and those lines are fantastic. Furthermore, the body is completely smooth with nothing to detract from the artwork and brilliant paint job.
The back side of this car is absolutely gorgeous with the sloping rear end that mounts a re-done set of tail-lights in the bumper, rather than in the fenders. And, just to tease our eyes a little bit, a pinstripe tattoo shows that she may be willing to please her future owner however he/she sees fit.

On the inside of the car is a scene of tranquility and a host of parts that have been borrowed from other autos and parts manufacturers. For example, those plush leather seats are taken from a newer Lincoln Towncar, and are willing to hold some lucky butt cheeks for as long as needed during the nightly cruise.

Many restomods fall short in the “go fast” department, as they look faster and more powerful than they actually are. You won’t usually see them on this website, though, because I try to only post fast stuff.
This beauty, however, comes with a brand new 400 horsepower Vortec 350. This is plenty of meat to get the heavy Caddy up and moving, especially with the rest of the setup. The rear end came out of a C4 Vette with a set of 3.55:1 gears in the back. This is a perfect gear ratio for driving any amount of distance, and helping her get up to speed in a decent amount of time.

Not sure why they went with an Escalade Transmission, but that’s what is transferring power to the wheels. Maybe the previous owner decided that they wanted something else with the Cadillac name attached to it. Who knows? But, with an auto transmission, you don’t have to worry about which gear you’re in, or when to shift.
To ensure comfort when driving around, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded by using a donor C4 Corvette’s parts which should also help this big girl stop and corner a lot better.
I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I’m not sure I would have done anything different on this car. As far as I can tell, she’s a perfect specimen of a car you just don’t see every day. Plus, she’s been upgraded and modified with modern parts to make sure everything is up to date, and really, all around better than it ever was.
How much will this car go for? I’m not sure. Usually when a car is donated to such a worthy foundation, only the sky is the limit. What do you think about how this car is done? Would you change anything if it belonged to you?
