Everyone loves a great truck and none come much better than the classic 1956 Ford F-150. This is the truck that changed how trucks were perceived. The work truck was no longer just for farmers or laborers, this rig was for surfers, campers and represented American craftsmanship at its highest level. The BSI X-100 is that thought brought into the 21st century.

The guys at Bodie Stroud Industries launched into their X-100 project last year and the results are breathtaking. If you’re the kind of person who has the bank account of a Silicon Valley executive, then Bodie Stroud Industries has your ride. The BSI X-100 starts with the body of a 1956 F-100, but virtually no part of the truck remains untouched in its transformation. The hood is chopped, a much larger rear window is installed, and a one-piece tub bed features a hidden fuel filler neck.

Under the hood, buyers have a choice of a 5.0L DOHC 32-valve Ford “Coyote” V-8, in either a naturally aspirated 412hp form or a supercharged 630-hp version. Both are mated to a late-model Ford 4R70W automatic transmission. The rest of the hardware on the X-100 reads like any custom classic enthusiast’s wish list: Flaming River steering and steering column, Currie 9-inch rear end, Vintage Air climate control, Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires, Wilwood brakes, and a Magnaflow exhaust. Buyers can also select a custom airbag suspension system to adjust ride height on the fly.

If you want to park one of these beauties in your garage, be prepared to step up to the plate with $180,000 to start. Somewhat amusingly, the press release describes the starting price as “reasonable.” Considering the amount of work and craftsmanship, perhaps, but that amount will buy a good-sized house in most parts of the country.

All the details were painstakingly addressed and the result is a stunning restomod that personifies the term. The manufacturer keeps the original vibe and love for the classic vehicle but unleashes a beast with all the modern amenities that make us lose our minds and wallets.
