Now this isn’t the most common car, and certainly doesn’t have the largest fan club. But if you are looking for a Cyclone restomod this is pretty much the only one to own.

The final generation of Cyclones bore the most dramatic styling, the highest levels of luxury and the most powerful engines of all, but there was never one like this Roush 427-powered 1970 Resto Mod. The product of a five-year rotisserie build, this car takes those three characteristics to whole new levels while remaining outwardly faithful to the original’s factory appearance. Namely, the Mercury’s bold bodywork is gift-wrapped in glowing House of Kolor Chrome Yellow with Semi-gloss Black striping and the look is furthered with front and rear spoilers and custom Magnum 500-styled billet aluminum wheels, here shod with Michelin Pilot 235-50 ZR17 front and 335-35 ZR17 rear tires.

But a closer look reveals that there is literally a window into the car’s soul hidden in the hood stripe—a lexan window that reveals the fuel-injected Roush 427/560 HP engine nestled in the sparkling engine compartment. A modified C6 automatic transmission with Gear Vendors overdrive and a 3.57:1-geared Ford Currie 9-inch rear end were assigned to handle the 427’s fulsome output, which is aided by custom headers and 3-inch stainless exhaust with X-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. A Griffin aluminum radiator and dual electric fans combine for ample cooling. Art Morrison underpinnings mount coilover suspension with front A-arms and a four-link rear system, with Mustang II power rack and pinion steering and Wilwood 12-inch disc brakes keeping things on track.

This first-rate Resto Mod coddles its occupants with a White leather bucket-seat interior featuring a custom carbon fiber console with B&M shifter, Alpine Stereo, Auto Meter gauges, power windows, Vintage Air and LED lighting.
