Party Like It’s 1965 With This First-Gen Mustang Restomod

First-generation Ford Mustang restomods aren’t exactly hard to come by, but finding one from the very first model year is slightly more rare. Finding one that’s been done this well is even rarer. Built by Bobby Alloway of Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop in Louisville, Tennessee, the car is in a league of its own.

The exterior has been finished in a Porsche paint color, Carmine Red, with the hood finished in grey. A Mustang finished in Porsche paint? That’s a new one, but I can get behind it. There’s also a small, subtle stripe running down the side. The car, built for SEMA 2017, sits on a Detroit Speed suspension set up and four Billet Specialties’ wheels. Under that hood, you’ll find a Robert Yates Racing 302ci small-block V8. This little powerhouse kicks out 650 horsepower, and is mated to a six-speed transmission.

As strange as it may seem, talk of the transmission brings us nicely on to the car’s interior. Why? Well, it’s pretty minimalist, but absolutely stunning. The center console is barebones, with the shifter, and, well, that’s about it. The seats are Recaros, while the rear seat has been removed in tribute to the Shelbys of the era.
