Performance Online Cruise #3 – Driving Around Corona
On August the 16th, Restomods.com took part of Performance Online’s Corona Cruise #3, around Lake Mathews and the hills of Corona, CA. Mike and the guys went for a drive around sunny California with the shop project truck – Blue, as well as the RM11 sweepstake price – this dazzling 1964 Corvette Stingray.
The Corvette turned heads everywhere we took it. Fully restored top to bottom and meticulously perfected inside and out, the car performs better than it ever did out of the factory.
Under the hood sits a brand new ZZ4 350 ci small block V8 engine. A Barry Grant tri-power system with triple 250 CFM Demon carburetors feeds it all the air it wants. You can hear the Hedman headers, 3-inch exhaust, and Flowmaster Mufflers from the other side of the hill.
Just look at it go…
With 355 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, flowing through the 5-speed Tremec manual transmission and a 4:11 rear end, you’ll experience the C2 Corvette how it was always meant to be.
Four-wheel disc brakes and coilovers, power rack and pinion steering, and a heavy duty cooling system give you all the modern reliability and driveability you could ever want in a classic Corvette.
The car is absolutely phenomenal! Astronauts went to the Moon, so they could have this Corvette. You can win it by simply entering the Restomods.com sweepstakes.
The whole day was great fun. We got to show off our wheels and saw a tone of classic cars and trucks. Watch the official recap below.
POL partnered with FiTech and organized an open entry giveaway. Anybody who got themselves a free ticket, was in the lottery for a FiTech Meanstreet 800 fuel injection kit. This EFI system is capable of sustaining up to 800 horsepower. If you ever wanted a death wish of a muscle car with instant cold starts and a self-tuning processor unit, FiTech has got you covered.
Here are some of our favorite vehicles from POL’s Corona Cruise #3.
1985 Chevrolet Silverado
Look at that Plexiglas airbox with dual 4-barrel carbs. 530 cubic-inches of displacement? Looking at the rear wheels, this thing is ready to make runs at the drag strip.
Best thing about this Silverado are the hybrid badges front and back. We’re not ones to shun new technology, but this jab is just hilarious.
1965 Pontiac GTO
There were flashier GTOs at POL’s Corona Cruise. However, we absolutely loved this sleeper. It’s so clean and pure. The big block is long gone, but the modern LS engine has plenty of power to move this classic at frightening speed.
1965 Ford Mustang
No classic car meetup can be complete without one of these ponies joining the show. This one looks really good and it even has a mini pony mascot.
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Here’s a bad ass muscle car. It’s an absolute dream, this Chevelle. Satin-black and red all around, the owner has made sure everybody knows this car means business.
We’ve got lots of love for cool Chevelles here on Restomods.com. Check out a few of our latest articles dedicated to, arguably, the most popular muscle car in history.

- David Sparrow’s 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu
Oldschool Cool Chevy Trucks
We can’t help but show love for these finely restored trucks. We’ve got the 1954 and 1957 Chevrolet pickups.
Never have these trucks looked so beautiful out of the factory. Even tough these gorgeously sculpted bodies were stamped out by Chevrolet, back in the day, they were workhorses at the farm. Farmers used them hauling bales and pigs if need be.
The owners of these vehicles have invested eye-watering amounts of money, love and passion to get them in concourse condition.
The FiTech giveaway winner also had a 1951 Chevy truck.
1965 Shelby Cobra 427
There’s a car that stops the whole crew in place.
The AC / Shelby Cobra is one of the most significant vehicles for American racing and performance history. The finest British racing technology and automotive design, matched with Ford’s biggest and most advanced V8 engine, brought together by the legendary Carroll Shelby.
It leaves us in awe every time we see one.
Second-generation Firebird
This looks like a 1979 Pontiac Firebird. The rear-lip spoiler is probably important if you plan on going full tilt, however, the car looks so beautiful without it.
Sure, late 70s cars had embarrassing power. Pontiac held on to the big block for as long as they could, but even the L78 400 ci V8 made like 200-something horsepower.
In 2020 tough, you can have whatever power you want, but can’t easily get this much style. Who wouldn’t like a beauty like this one?
1930s Ford Roadster
Here’s another staple in American go fast culture. These hot rods are almost 90-years-old, but their design is timeless. Of course, today, they have modern underpinnings and powertrains that push them to speeds which were unthinkable back in the day, but the attitude is the same.
Scare yourself to death, without dying.
1965 El Camino Pickup
Performance luxury trucks are everywhere today, but in the 1960s, you could either have a nice car or a work truck. Then, these things came around – chopped Chevelle with a nice cab, unibody bed and big block power.
Yes, please! The Chevrolet El Camino is The Car-Truck You Just Can’t Hate.
And this one was built by Vietnam veterans. Thank you for your service!
1957 Porsche 356 Speedster
We’ll finish off the list with one of Europe’s most beloved classic sports cars – the Porsche 356.
The air-cooled 4-cylinder boxer engine didn’t have a lot of power, but the car weights as little as 1,700 lbs. And look at that smooth shell. Gotta give it to the Germans, there has never been a bad-looking Porsche.
POL Cruise #3 was an absolute blast. There were dozens of cars we’d like to put on the list, but the best way to experience is them is to come down with us on the next cruise.
