Readers Ride: Jeff Brooks Killer 1965 Ford Mustang
Recently I linked up with Restomod friend Jeff Brooks to discuss his super clean 1965 Ford Mustang. One of my favorite things about our readers is their passion for their cars, without that it’s just another vehicle, but add the passion for their project and you have something that’s magic.
Here’s Jeff describing his passion project: A 1965 Ford Mustang Restomod.
“I’m 54, and this is the sixth 1st Generation Mustang I’ve had in my stable. I purchased my first 1965 Coupe during the summer of my 18th year in 1980. You could say our family is a diehard Ford family, in fact, the first car that I learned to drive in was my mom’s ’65 Coupe.”
“Our family got our passion for Fords from our grandfather, Lewis Rector, who was a Master Ford Restorer for the Edward Towe Ford Museum in Montana and California. At the time, The Towe collection was one of the largest private all-Ford collections in the world and I still feel lucky to have purchased my first Mustang (a 1965 Palomino Coupe) from the Towe collection. When I spoke to Mr. Towe about the car, I found out that he had two Mustangs and only wanted one for his collection, so we made a deal that I would work for Mr Towe, along side my grandfather (my greatest honor, my hero), to earn the money to buy it.”
And so a passion was born.
“You could say I have an affinity for coupe’s, having owned five ’65 Coupes and one ’66 Fastback. Now as a father, I enjoy passing my Mustang passion to my son, Sean, who at 16 is recently licensed and is following in the family footsteps with his own project ’65 Coupe we call, ‘Maroon.'”
“Sean says he like the Coupes best, like Father like Son. Go figure. I hope you enjoy my ride.”
