A Soaring Falcon: Restomodded Barn Find Racer

The Ford Falcon was a car that was basically swallowed by the Mustang in the US. A great car for its time, the Sprint variant boasted a powerful V8, racing suspension, and performed ably at the Monte Carlo Rally. Unfortunately, Mustang sales broke its wings and put it in the ground, leaving it mostly unloved today. Thankfully, not everyone has forgotten about it. Carl Owen’s Falcon took a trip from rusty barn find to polished racer, packing a 302 V8 from a Foxbody Mustang. This isn’t the only thing to come from a Mustang on the restomod, either: the radiator is from a ’65 Mustang, as are the shocks. This crossover is possible thanks to the easy compatibility between the Falcon and Mustang, with the parts being a perfect fit.

The looks have been kept close to the Falcon, including under the hood, with the stock air filter being kept on the new engine. When Carl found the car, the body wasn’t in great shape. Rusted all to hell, it had potential, but not much else. So how much did he get the Falcon for, do you think? A few thousand? Nope. $0. That’s right, it was absolutely free. Thanks to the availability of Mustang parts, I have to imagine this build was practically a bargain. A textbook exercise in thrifty restomodding, this Falcon is incredible.
