This Buick Wildcat RestoMod Render Loses its Front Clip for a lot of Show & Tell

December 18, 2023

Some of the first early hotrods to ever come into existence were absolute rabble rousers of automobiles. With souped up flathead V8s, exposed headers, and bright color paint-jobs, they truly made a statement. Many old school hot rods often ditched their flappy bonnets to show the engine fully exposed in all its glory. As more modern power plants outgrew their predecessors, the need to show off interesting engine swaps made exposed engine bays that much more popular. The artists over at HotCars embodied the spirit of those early hotrod machines with their render of a 1966 Buick Wildcat RestoMod.

In this exclusive HotCars render, the artist has removed most of the sheet metal from the front clip of the Wildcat, revealing an almost NASCAR-like tube chassis and some kind of ferocious big block engine within. It’s an obvious callback to early backyard racecar building and unsanctioned circle track racing; a uniquely American spectacle that laid a lot of the groundwork for what would eventually become NASCAR.

This Wildcat also features some bulged rear quarters as well as 20″ 3 piece wheels, super wide tires and some serious looking suspension. The rear reveals a little more of that tube chassis,  and some cool LED lights on the front and rear bumpers. It’s worth noting that the soundtrack sounds a lot more like a modern LS3 than the choppy big block that appears to reside in this Wildcat. But the cool thing about renders is that a lot is still left up to interpretation and imagination. Would you drive a Wildcat as wild as this one? Let us know!
