Plymouth Fury

The Plymouth Fury is another car which aged pretty unfortunately. Produced in various forms from ’55-’78, it began life as a fresh looking high-finned masterwork, ending as a bland paean to late ‘70s design. The early ‘70s models though, are absolutely stunning pieces of work which grabbed the tailwind of muscle cars’ golden age and held on tight. Equipped with a range of V8s, the range was topped by the Fury Sport GT, which packed a 440. The sedan and wagon models are decent, and the coupes and convertibles are superb cruisers that can also build up a very respectable head of speed. In its prime, the 440 could do 0-60 in a still-respectable 6.52 seconds.

The wagon and sedan models are the predominant variety available, with the coupe versions being extremely difficult to track down. If you can find one, the aftermarket support is fairly decent, and they won’t set you back an awful amount: budget around $7000, and you’ll be fine.
