Now this is a car that’s hard to find, but well worth it if you can. Released in 1968, this Corvette competitor had a production run of just two years, which is a huge shame. It looks amazing, melding the best of 60s muscle cars with the smoother lines of a grand tourer. Under the hood, you won’t find anything other than a V8. What would you expect in an attempted Corvette killer? Displacement ranges from 290-390ci, with power going from 225-325 horsepower. The car was built well for the time, but you’ll ideally be replacing the cylinder heads and camshaft, to improve power even further. As you’d expect, the range of custom equipment is excellent, but due to its limited production run, getting spare stock parts is going to be a challenge, making it more suitable for an experienced rebuilder.

If you decide to make this your own, you’ll need a little more money than for cars like the Vega or Capri. Prices range from around $5000-$15000, and you’ll probably need to travel to find one. Buy and modify one though, and you’ll be the envy of every car owner in a hundred mile radius.
