How can you not love a car that simply calls itself “The Machine?” This particular model of the AMC Rebel was available for one year only, with an…interesting red, white, and blue paint job that many seem to dislike, but I’m actually quite a fan of. The Rebel had plenty of speed to back up its HOORAH AMERICA colors too, thanks to a 390 ci V8 that marshalled 340 horses under the hood. The engine was accompanied by modified heads and a four-barrel carb for supreme performance.

It’s a sad fact, but true, that the AMC Rebel “The Machine” just doesn’t get the credit it deserves these days, if it gets a mention all. True, it was only around for one year, and it was somewhat overshadowed by its pony car brethren, the AMC Javelin and the AMX, but it’s a fine car in its own right. Not many were made, with just 2000 being sold in 1970, but they’re also not too expensive if you can find one, thanks to their occupying a hole in public memory.
