The finest stretch is from San Simeon to the border or Oregon, but once you cross the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and head north into misty coast redwood forests, your heart will stay here forever.

If you’re seeking solitude you will find it. Bring your AAA card and and some camping gear if youre a badass and drive off on a dirt road and be truly alone.
