1961 Cadillac DeVille Race Mod
When you think of a nice base for a project car, do you think of a 1961 Cadillac DeVille? I sure don’t. And when I do think of a 1961 Cadillac DeVille, I think of early 60’s, pastel colors, chrome, and big fins. But the owner of this car, Willie Taitano, sees a pink and white 1961 Cadillac DeVille and imagines a race car. He also allegedly drives this car every day.
This thing has gone through a complete transformation from that pink and white chrome cruiser. In goes a 472 big block with its 500 foot pounds of torque and 475-500 horsepower. In goes the bright red crocodile interior. In goes the new stereo with CD player, and when it comes on the first song is Rick James’ “Mary Jane” and thus the Cadillac has a name.
That’s the current state, but watch this video and not only will you get a great view of this unique car but a view into a unique owner. Willie Taitano claims to have owned over 300 cars, 120 of them being Cadillacs. He has customized this one several times over, with different paint, interior, trim, exhaust, and more.
