3 Restomods Top $100k at Mecum Dallas
Collector-car powerhouse Mecum rolled through Dallas this past weekend and the dollars were flying. The top sale was a 1969 Stingray that hammered at $680k, but the real headline was the sheer number of restomods: 53 of the 1,319 vehicles that crossed the block wore the “restomod” tag—solid proof the segment is booming.
Three of those builds cracked the $100k club. Here are the podium finishers:
1966 Chevrolet Nova SS – $105,000
Tucked-bumpers, a 383/425 hp small-block with a Demon Six-Pack, and a Richmond 5-speed. Cream ultra-leather inside, black-and-silver outside—clean enough to snag multiple Good-Guys awards.
1963 Chevy Impala SS – $120,000
Custom tubular chassis, C4 Corvette suspension/brakes, and an LS7 505 hp heart. Under-car shot shows brand-new everything—basically a 1963 body dropped over 2014 hardware.
1963 Chevrolet Corvette – $135,000
Split-window body, C4 suspension/brakes, and a 440 hp LT5 spinning a ZF 6-speed. Bright-red interior, billet dash, and just enough chrome under the hood to remind you it’s still 1963—only faster.
Top-three restomods combined for $360,000. Next shot at glory? Mecum Chicago, October 9-11—bring the trailer and the checkbook.
