3 Restomods Top $100k at Mecum Dallas
Collector car auction powerhouse Mecum did their thing in Dallas this past weekend and as has been the trend, the dollars were flying. The top car was a 1969 Stingray Corvette that went for $680k, but the real standout was the sheer number of restomods. 53 of the 1,319 vehicles to cross the stage were identified as restomods in a nod to the growing segment of collectors.
These restomods weren’t going cheap either. Three cars landed in the over $100k club:
1966 Chevrolet Nova SS – $105,000

This ’66 Nova SS is unbelievably well done. The bumpers are tucked into the body giving it supremely clean lines. The shiny stuff under the hood is a 383/425 HP powerplant with a Demon Six-Pack carb mated to a 5-speed manual.

A jaw-dropping ’63 split window vette took the top spot, with good reason. It’s another restomod that is basically a brand new car hand built from the ground up. Custom Street Shop chassis, suspension and brakes lifted from a C4, and an LT5 powerplant mated to a ZF 6-speed making 440HP.
