Super Clean 1967 Ford Mustang At Mecum Monterey
1967 Ford Mustang Resto-Mod
496 CI, 5-Speed
Hertz never offered a ’67 GT-500—still, this fastback borrows the famous black-and-gold livery as the starting point for a spectacular Resto-Mod. Beneath the twin-scooped fiberglass hood lives a balanced-and-blueprinted 496 ci side-oiler big-block built to run hard and survive.
Scat 4340 forged crank and rods swing Diamond 11:1 slugs inside a Canton pan with windage tray. C&C Blue-Thunder heads, T&D shaft rockers and a Comp .700-lift roller are fed by twin 750 CFM Quick Fuel carbs on a Dove high-rise, sparked by MSD and lubricated by a Billet Specialties serpentine setup.
A McLeod twin-disc 9.5-inch clutch and Modern Driveline hydraulic setup back the big-block to a heavy-duty Tremec 5-speed with carbon synchros. Power exits through a Chris Alston Fab-9 housing. Inside, billet gauges and a Lokar shifter live alongside a thundering trunk-mounted audio system. Hertz black-and-gold, Shelby stripes and wide billet wheels give the package a rent-a-racer vibe with pro-tour bite.
