The RM33 1970 Dodge Charger 426 HEMI Build Details
The 1970 Dodge Charger is one of the most iconic silhouettes in American muscle car history, and RM33 takes that legacy to a darker, more menacing level. While this car originally made waves in Viper Red, it has been completely reimagined for its return.
This build wasn't just a simple color change; it was a continuation of the ground-up restoration by the RestoMods team. We’ve kept every bit of the high-performance DNA that made this car a masterpiece while giving it a fresh aesthetic that demands respect on the road.
The Story Behind RM33
You might recognize this car from its previous life as RM30. Our winner, Derrick Jones, was faced with the ultimate enthusiast's dilemma: take home this incredible HEMI Charger plus $50,000 in cash, or opt for a massive $150,000 cash alternative.
In a move that thrilled the RestoMods community, Derrick chose the entire cash alternative, giving us the unique opportunity to bring this beast back to the shop and give the community another chance to win it! We decided to up the ante, stripping it back down for a color change to Tuxedo Black and rebranding it as RM33.
Modern Muscle, Classic Soul
Under that new black finish, the RM33 still packs a serious punch. Here is a look at the elite hardware that makes this Charger better than new:
-
Under the Hood: Powered by a 426 Gen-3 HEMI from Blueprint Engines, dyno-tested at a massive 650 horsepower. It features a Holley Terminator X-Max EFI system and Hooker stainless steel shorty headers flowing into a Magnaflow Street Series 2.5” stainless steel exhaust with an X-pipe.
-
The Drivetrain: A Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission puts the power in your hands, paired with a McLeod clutch and hydraulic throwout bearing for modern, crisp shifting.
-
Suspension & Handling: This isn’t a floaty vintage cruiser. With a QA1 front cradle, rack and pinion steering, and a QA1 rear 4-link with coilovers, RM33 handles like a modern sports car.
-
Braking & Wheels: Stopping power is provided by Wilwood 14” 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brakes. It sits perfectly on American Racing Groove wheels wrapped in sticky Falken RT660 tires.
Refined Interior
Inside, the "blacked-out" theme continues. The cabin features Sparco GT bucket seats upholstered in premium suede and leather, Dakota Digital gauges, and a custom woodgrain Hurst pistol grip shifter. With a Vintage Air A/C system and a Bluetooth-enabled Retrosound stereo, you get all the comforts of a 2024 vehicle inside the body of a 1970 legend.
Your Second Chance
Derrick Jones took the cash, which means the RM33 is officially back up for grabs. This is more than just a car; it’s a $450,000 build that combines 2,000 hours of labor with the finest parts in the industry.
The RM33 is everything you could ever want in a RestoMod: classic looks, modern drivability, and now, a menacing Tuxedo Black finish. Don't miss your second chance to own this HEMI icon at https://RestoMods.com
