The RM31 Supercharged LSX ’67 Camaro

July 29, 2025

The Classic Camaro: A Historic First

The 1967 Camaro was Chevrolet’s answer to Ford’s Mustang, and their first entry into the pony car market. It debuted as a purpose-built performance car with long hood lines, compact dimensions, and undeniable muscle car DNA. It marked the beginning of a now-legendary rivalry and helped define what a true American sports coupe could be. First-gens like this one are beloved for capturing that sweet spot between raw muscle and nimble presence. This particular example takes it further in every way. Get your chance to win a fully restored and modified 1967 Camaro RestoMod plus $50,000 at RestoMods.com.

Engine: Pure American Punch

Under the hood sits a Whipple-supercharged Wegner-built LSX putting down a monstrous 730 horsepower. It’s a setup designed to pull hard from idle with explosive mid-range torque and a high-rev scream. Supporting the drivetrain is a T56 6-speed manual transmission, Centerforce clutch, Kooks long-tube headers, Holley Terminator X-Max EFI, and custom valve covers. The whole engine bay is immaculately clean and that is thanks to Smithy’s Customs, who not only built it to go fast but made it look fast standing still. The shop out of Houston, Texas had already done a lot of the work back in 2018 on the car prior to the purchase.

Suspension & Handling

Forget sloppy, old-school handling. This Camaro is stiff, precise, and incredibly well-balanced thanks to a complete Chris Alston Chassisworks system. You’re getting a fully fabricated front subframe, upper and lower control arms, subframe connectors, coilovers, and a 4-link rear connected to a Fab9 rear end. Throw in the carbon fiber driveshaft and this thing not only puts power down confidently, but corners like a much newer performance car.

Paint & Bodywork

Finished in deep Tuxedo Black by SV Body & Paint, this Camaro commands attention without saying a word. RestoMods added new chrome bumpers, a custom grille, LED headlights, and Eddie Motorsports LED taillights. It rides on 18×8.5” (front) and 18×12” (rear) Boze Forged Synchro wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888R tires (245/40/18 front and 335/30/18 rear), giving it a wide, planted stance. The rear end was mini-tubbed to make room for those massive tires, helping this build back up its muscle with real grip.

Interior: Restored with Modern Touches

Inside, you’ll find the perfect blend of retro vibes and modern tech. Houndstooth Recaro seats with Sparco harnesses, TMI door panels and center console, a MOMO Prototipo Black Edition wheel, and a Holley digital LCD dash screen bring the cabin up to date. There’s also Restomod Air climate control, new carpet, and a full roll cage for safety and rigidity: all finished with clean, tucked wiring and thoughtful touches throughout.

Ready to own the ultimate first-gen Camaro?

This isn’t just a ’67 Camaro, it’s a reimagined classic. Built with power, precision, and attitude, it’s everything Chevy didn’t know we needed back then. And now, it could be yours.
